Step 1 – Find a licensed electrician
We’ve introduced our Ampol Installation Service to ensure a simple and convenient way to get your EV charger installed.
If you opt not to go ahead with an Ampol installation then you’ll need to organise your own licensed electrician to install your EV charger at your own cost to ensure a compliant installation.

Step 2 – Request an estimate
To receive an accurate installation estimate, you'll need to provide some details about your preferred installation location, your home's existing electrical infrastructure and Wi-Fi coverage (if applicable). You will also need to upload photos.
Based on the provided information, Ampol or a third party installer should be able to send you a fee estimate in writing for you to accept. If you decide you don't want to install with us - that's ok. You can arrange your own licensed electrician for your installation.

Step 3 – Schedule your installation
If you accept your fee estimate, Ampol or a third party installer will be in touch to book in a convenient day and time to install your EV charger.

Step 4 – Prepare your property for installation
If you install with us, we'll send you a few simple tips on how you can prepare to make sure your EV charger can be installed smoothly and safely. If you've organised a third party installer, we recommend inquiring to see if they have any preparation requirements.

Step 5 – Installation day
On the day of installation, you'll meet with our licensed electrician(s) or a third party electrician to confirm your installation needs and any special considerations relating to your property. The installation takes about 3 hours (on average) and it's required for an adult to be home when the install takes place. Be sure to provide our licensed electrician(s) or your third party installer with the installation manual for your EV charger - found top of page.

Step 6 – Setting up
During the commissioning process, the electrician(s) may need to input the details of your installation into our commissioning portal for registration (Wi-Fi enabled models only).
If your EV charger is Wi-Fi enabled (selected models only) then you'll need to connect your home Wi-Fi network. Follow the instructions within the manual to connect your charger to Wi-Fi which will allow you to access the AmpCharge Driver Portal. Our customer support team are ready to assist if needed on 13 14 04.

Step 7 - Demonstration and final checks
If you install with us, our licensed electrician(s) will provide a demonstration of "how to use" your charger following the successful installation.
Before the licensed electrician(s) has left your property, make sure you check the LED status of your charger to ensure it is on and ready for charging (a full overview of LED indicators can be found in your installation manual, found top of page):

Step 8 - Power up your journey
You're now ready to charge your EV and start your journey.
Some other things to consider
- Avoid storing highly flammable liquids or substances near to or above the installed EV supply equipment (EVSE).
- When the EVSE is installed in a garage or carport associated with a residential dwelling, consider installing a hardwired smoke alarm or heat alarm including interconnection to any other smoke alarms.
