AmpCharge electricity is matched with renewable energy certificates

Our AmpCharge public charging destinations across Australia facilitate the electrification of the transport sector.

The power sold through our AmpCharge public charging destinations is matched by voluntary and compulsory surrender of Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs).

Frequently Asked Questions

Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) are tradable certificates that represent one megawatt per hour (MWh) of electricity generated from renewable energy sources at accredited power stations. LGCs can then be sold by the company generating the electricity to another company who surrender the certificates to meet any compulsory and/or voluntary renewable energy obligations. All surrendered LGCs can be tracked through the Renewable Energy Certificate Registry administered by the Clean Energy Regulator. To find out more, go to https://www.rec-registry.gov.au/rec-registry/app/home

AmpCharge has purchased and surrendered an equivalent amount of LGCs for the amount of electricity consumption (in MWh) attributed to our AmpCharge public charging destinations in order to promote renewable energy. We include in the calculation LGCs purchased and surrendered both voluntarily and to meet our renewable power percentage obligations that apply to all suppliers of power.
