The power sold through our AmpCharge public chargers is matched by the voluntary and compulsory surrender of Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs). This means that AmpCharge purchases and surrenders an equivalent amount of LGCs for the amount of electricity consumption (in MWh) attributed to our AmpCharge public charging destinations in order to promote renewable energy. We include in our calculation LGCs purchased and surrendered both voluntarily and compulsory (to meet our renewable power percentage obligations that apply to all suppliers of power).

LGCs are tradable certificates that represent one megawatt per hour (MWh) of electricity generated from renewable energy sources at accredited power stations. LGCs can be sold by the company generating the electricity to another company who surrenders the certificates to meet any compulsory and/or voluntary renewable energy obligations. All surrendered LGCs can be tracked through the Renewable Energy Certificate Registry administered by the Clean Energy Regulator (to find out more, go to https://www.rec-registry.gov.au/rec-registry/app/public/lgc-register).

Our AmpCharge public charging sites have industry standard CCS2 connectors attached to our EV chargers, which are generally compatible with most EVs available in Australia. At selected locations, we also have CHAdeMO connectors. You can check connector types and availability for your preferred location on Google or Apple Maps, or our Ampol app site locator.
