Charging on the Road
Our AmpCharge public charging sites have industry standard CCS2 connectors attached to our EV chargers, which are compatible with most EVs available in Australia. At selected locations, we also have CHAdeMO connectors. You can check connector types and availability for your preferred location in the Ampol app. You don't need to bring your own charging connector cable. However, you may need to bring your connector plug adapter if your EV isn't set up to use a CCS2 connector.
We have a range of different DC chargers in our AmpCharge public network, with a range of different power output speeds. For example, a lot of our chargers have a power output rating of 150kW. With a 150kW rated charger, you can typically charge your EV from 10%-80% in about 30-50mins.
However, exact charging speeds and times depend not only on a charger's power output rating, but on various other factors such as the number of EVs charging concurrently at a site, available grid capacity, and an EV’s specific characteristics such as maximum charging rate, battery size, state of battery charge at the time of the charge. Real-life charging speeds may be reduced to account for these factors.
The number of charging connectors may differ from site to site. Check Google or Apple Maps or our Ampol app site locator for details of available charging connectors per site.
